Cape Town City have released a statement confirming they do not agree with decision to reschedule their DStv Premiership with Kaizer Chiefs.
The Soweto giants won their case against the Premier Soccer League last month after Advocate Nazeer Cassim SC ruled that the two matches will be replayed.
City, however, have denied that they agreed to the process of replaying the game and will defend their position.
Regrettably it has been brought to our attention that Circular No.16 of the National Soccer League has become a public document which leaves us no alternative but to declare that we distance ourselves from it’s content.
The insinuations that we are party to or part of this decision is untrue. We categorically do not agree to this process and have responded in writing to the league and the parties on two occasions now, reserving our rights as a club to defend our position in this matter.
The AmaKhosi did not show up for their clashes against City and Golden Arrows in December last year, after a Covid-19 outbreak at Naturena.
The Soweto giants will be without several players including Sifiso Hlanti, Leonardo Castro and Lebogang Manyama, who are all nursing injuries.
One of the team’s key attackers Keagan Dolly will also be missing as he is set to serve his one-match suspension against SuperSport.
However, the Glamour Boys are set to welcome back their talisman Khama Billiat after he served his one-match suspension against TS Galaxy on April 5.
GOAL predicts Amakhosi’s starting line-up as they look to return to winning ways after drawing 0-0 with Galaxy.
